Announcement from Notts League

Posted on 25th Jul 2021, 12:00am

At the Zoom meeting on 10th July most of you who attended agreed that a pre-season mini tournament with 3 player teams would be a good way to kick start the return to league Squash and re-ignite the strong social aspect of our sport again. If you can circulate the form attached and encourage your club members to get involved, it would a great start to the season. We have decided to include a men's/ mixed league competition (as we appreciate that we have ladies teams already playing in the league, a ladies only and a Racketball event, depending on the number of teams that enter, we will put teams into categories. The ladies event will be aimed at beginner to intermediate standard, our ultimate aim is to encouraging ladies to get back into the sport and to see if there is a possibility of including a ladies league into the league season. Same for the Racketball, the potential of introducing a Nottinghamshire Racketball league into the season?

The event will take place at the Park on Saturday 4th September and will include holding the AGM on the day, most likely being at lunchtime, with a buffet. We will finish the event with a social evening for you all to discuss the Squash you have played during the day over a few drinks at the bar and some food from our BBQ!!

At the AGM we will look to put a new committee together and with this in mind we would like you and your members to think about getting involved. Nick and I will be standing for co-chairman and someone could apply to stand as Chairman too but we have the following positions that need filling:

  • Honorary Secretary
  • Treasurer (currently John Romer who may stand again)
  • League secretary
  • Social media officer
  • Junior chair
  • Development officer

We would also like one member from each club to be part of the committee, to help keep us connected and involved with the development of Squash around the county, as a general committee member (Unless they have a member occupying one of the above roles). Please inform us if you or someone from your club would be interested in any of the above positions. We need your support and nominations. If you would like a brief overview of what each role will entail, please contact us and we will send a description. We promise not to make them too onerous!!!

Finally, we are looking to build a network of coaches, primarily for Junior county coaching. But we would like as many coaches as possible to be involved. So, if your club coaches would like to be involved in the future development of Squash in Nottinghamshire, please ask them to contact us.

Kind Regards
